World Teachers’ Day, also known as International Teachers Day , an initiative by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is held annually on the 5th of October in over 200 countries worldwide.

This year’s theme is “ “Young Teachers: The future of the profession.”
In celebrating the day and honouring teachers in Nigeria , Raising Champion Children Initiative( RCCI) Women Consortium of Nigeria( WOCON )and Out-of-School Children Empowerment Foundation (OSCEF) Organised Teachers Appreciation Day for sixty (60) teachers of the Low cost housing Primary 1, 2 and Dele Alake Primary schools in Jakande Estate , Oke Afa in Isolo area of Lagos state on Thursday 3rd October.

A representative of RCCI Ms Atinuke Ogunbayo encouraged the pupils to respect and appreciate their teachers who are doing a lot to make them better citizens of Nigeria by obeying school rules and focusing on their studies.

Mrs Morenike Omaiboje ,Director of Programs Women’s Consortium of Nigeria while addressing the teachers, thanked them for their great efforts of Impacting knowledge into the pupils even in difficult situations.
She encouraged the young teachers to stay focused, be creative and embrace the 21st teaching and learning strategies.
Also she said the government could do more to make teaching an attractive profession through good remuneration and RCCI will be ready to.partnsr with the Government to ensure this is achieved. This, she recalled is one of RCCI’s main objectives.

Responding to the great gesture from RCCI, Headteachers of the schools as well some of the teachers expressed their gratitude to the Management of RCCI and their willingness to position their schools to enjoy partnership in the future with RCCI’s various areas of focus for the benefit of both the pupils and the teachers.

We All at Raising Champion Children initiative hereby join the rest of the world to wish All the Teachers Happy Teachers’ Day.
